Admissions Policy

Entry into Reception class

Applications for places are dealt with by Leeds Children’s Services (0113 222 4414). It is Leeds policy to handle all questions and issues arising; schools remain neutral in this process. More information can be found at

We have one intake each year, at the start of the Autumn Term. Reception pupils are normally admitted to school in September,  following their 4th birthday. Prospective parents are most welcome to make an appointment to look around our school or to visit on an open day.  Details of open days will be placed on the railings/noticeboard outside school.  Please telephone the school office on 0113 3368499 to confirm your attendance at one of these open days.

Parents are usually asked to complete preference forms in the Autumn of the year before the child starts school. Places are allocated in the late Spring / early Summer Term and we have a maximum intake of 60 children. Following this stage, some parents choose to appeal if their choices have not been met. We’ve recently had a lengthy waiting list at this stage.

Once we know our exact intake, we begin the process of ensuring every child’s entry into school is happy and relaxed. In the Summer Term, before the September start, parents are invited to an Open Evening to find out more about how we work and ask any questions they might still have. This meeting also gives parents the opportunity to meet and talk with the Reception class teachers and other support staff. Soon after, children are invited to visit the Reception class for short visits. During the first five days of the new school year term in September, 12 children are admitted per day. Parents and carers will be informed of the date their child is starting at the open evening in the Summer Term.

Entry into Years 1 – Years 6

Parents of older children, moving into the area, are welcome to make an appointment to visit the school. We are able to advise how many children are on the waiting list for each year group so please enquire at the school office. If you would like your child to be put on the waiting list please complete the In Year Common Preference Form which can be found under our ‘quick links’ section, or the office can provide you with a printed copy (copy attached below). The completed form can be emailed or handed in to the school office. We will contact you if a place becomes available.
